Altar Servers serve the Church by assisting the presider at Mass and other sacramental celebrations and rites. Servers prepare for the Mass by ensuring they are properly vested as well as working with Sacristans to verify the altar candles are lit, the Priest's Liturgy Binder is in its location, and incense is prepared (if it is to be used at Mass). They then participate in the Mass as a part of the entrance procession as well as presenting the presider with the liturgical binder, preparing the altar for the Eucharistic Celebration, and processing out as a part of the recessional procession.
Altar servers must be 5th Grade aged or older (up to High School seniors) and must have received their First Holy Communion.
